ADVERTISING MESSAGE STRATEGY GROUP PROJECTS
In my Advertising Message Strategy class, the final group project included selecting a local Athens business in order to create a re-branding advertising campaign. Collectively, our group consulted with the management of the local business to create our final campaign.
In another group project, my group and I coordinated social media posts with another local Athens business called Southern Belles & Beaus. The goal was to properly advertise new products and promote brand awareness while simultaneously increasing online engagement. After analyzing KPIs online, our advertisements showed an increase in user engagement.
TYPOGRAPHY COURSE
In my typography course, I learned to create characters and fonts with proper spacing techniques, and the importance of details in each character. For one of the projects, I was instructed to choose several advertising slogans and render them in an appropriate composition.
For the final project, I was instructed to choose two letters to combine into a logo. I chose the letters "M" and "V" for the logo.
GRAPHIC SYSTEMS
This course introduced core systematic design approaches with an emphasis on research, visual logic, forms, and data visualization. The first project included forming a grid system and exploring typographic elements, with an emphasis on fonts and my own creation of characters. For my own font creations, I focused on color and the contrast of curved and linear lines seen in the lowercase "m" and uppercase "M."
For another project, I was given an unknown recorded sound that I had to translate into a visual representation. The sound I represented was a recording of someone driving on the highway, so I focused on the consistency of the sound of wind and represented the slight variations accordingly.
For the final project in the class, we had to choose a social justice issue that we felt needed attention. I chose the opioid crisis seen in Georgia, and decided to make a series of three info-graphic posters.
